November 18, 2007

Orange, Gold and Scarlet leaves filled the trees and there was a crispness to the air. Summer's gone and old man winter is definitely on the way. Mike and I were doing our part to store up for winter by eating as much as we possibly could fit in our bodies and then just a touch more. Oysters at the Oyster Bar in Grand Central Terminal. Malaysian Tapas at Fatty Crab. Saam (a kind of wrap filled with rice, pickled vegetables and pork) at Mumofuko's Saam Bar. A Vietnamese Roast Pork Sandwich at Bang Mi (a place on Mott Street Behind a jewelry counter) and then across the street to Elizabeth for Dim Sum at Jin Fong. Cheese and Salami from the Grand Central Terminal Market (we ate this in Central Park with the above view).
An little Italian place in Brooklyn. Pastis for Steak Tartare. Incredible spicy Almonds at Spice Market and Mike actually cooked a dinner with rotelli and fresh chanterelles at my friend Beth's home one night. There was more food than I can list here and many, many cocktails. But, one of the best things we did while we were there was see "Mel Brook's Young Frankenstein". It was one of only eight shows running on Broadway because of the theater strike and it was a hoot! We really enjoyed it. Now we're home and I'm eating iceberg lettuce salads until Thanksgiving.
